Coco Key Water Resort (the chain of US indoor water parks are, for the most part, essentially the same) the Kansas City location is comparatively average in size. Unlike larger parks, such as some of the behemoths found in Wisconsin Dells, it lacks bigger slides and standout attractions such as a water coaster or funnel ride.
It does, however, offer two body slides, a couple of 2-person raft slides, a lazy river, and an indoor/outdoor spa. It also offers an interactive water play center with small slides and a tipping bucket. The “Dip-In Theatre,” a shallow pool with a nonstop display of movies and cartoons, sounds like a decent idea, but the soundtrack is all but drowned out by the din of the water park and its hooting and hollering visitors. In addition to the indoor water park, the property includes a video arcade and party rooms.
The water park is themed to 1930′s-era Key West. The adjacent Holiday Inn Kansas City Sports Complex, however, is themed to…a Holiday Inn. It offers 374 guest rooms, meeting facilities, function rooms, a fitness room, and a restaurant.

For Emily and Sarah Darling, owners of Darling Yoga, helping students experience the present is both an art and a gift. They team up with 16 other seasoned instructors to guide students toward physical wellness and inner peace through the practice of ancient poses and breathing exercises. Emily and Sarah lead classes for all levels, during which stress melts faster than a snowman in a mosh pit. Their sessions range from beginner-friendly Yoga Basics to Vinyasa and Ashtanga routines for intermediate and advanced students. The expert tandem also hosts children’s classes during many of the adult sessions, helping young yogis build strength, flexibility, and focus as their parents do the same in the classroom next door.
Natural light flows through large windows in both practice spaces, bathing groups in uplifting sunbeams during challenging bends and balances. After class, students can unwind in on-site showers or browse a boutique brimming with yoga mats, props, and apparel.

During mixed aerial apparatus classes, floor work and free weights pump up fitness and off-ground circuit training as students safely explore hoops, trapeze, and silks. Aerial yogis perform inverted poses on the ground and in the air to further boost flexibility and strength in each aerial yoga flow lesson. The aerial silks classes teach students to dance gracefully through the air while suspended from hanging silks, uniting elements of fitness, acrobatics, and yoga. See the class schedule.
Learning2Fly’s founder Sumya Anani believes that all conscious movement leads one further down the path to empowerment. It is this philosophy that led Anani to become a registered yoga teacher, massage therapist, personal trainer, and four-time world boxing champion. After traveling the country to train under several top aerialists, she now strives to inspire others through her curriculum—which includes aerial yoga and trapeze—that stirs up self-awareness, discipline, and perseverance. Her trained instructors also teach floor-bound boxing and Hatha yoga classes, which boost the flexibility and strength of those who are afraid of heights or making their pet emu jealous.

At the start of each summer, the Overland Park Convention Center teems with women as they shop, gather new info, and peruse more than 275 exhibitors that set up shop as a part of the Just for Her Expo. Groups of girlfriends can bounce from booth to booth as they check out the latest in summer fashions from local boutiques, or learn ways to budget a jewel-encrusted toothbrush from Ameriprise Financial. Dancing With The Stars winner J.R. Martinez will be speaking and signing autographs, and the ballroom hosts the Midwest Women’s Care Health & Wellness Expo, helping women answer health queries as a part of the larger event. Some lucky attendees win daily raffle prizes, while all motorists will find a prize waiting for them as soon as they arrive at the convention center—a free parking space.
